"Gundrilling" (Deep Hole Drilling): Not Just For Guns

The gundrilling process, originally developed for exceptionally deep holes, is now frequently used for a wide variety of challenging applications, producing holes of a higher quality than are generally possible with traditional twist drills. These are usually accomplished in one pass. There is no "pecking" and the self-piloting characteristic of gundrills minimizes drill wander while maximizing hole straightness and finish. Angle holes, compound angles, stepped holes, intersecting holes, co-tangent holes, shaped bottoms and other types of holes are possible.
